The telephone number to call in a medical emergency is 911. Parents should request the ambulance take a son or daughter under age 19 to a hospital that has a pediatric psychiatric unit so the youth is NOT placed with adult patients. The telephone number for youth to call about suicidal ideation is Samariteens at (800) 252-8336. This anonymous help line is staffed by teen volunteers weekdays 3pm-9pm, and weekends 9am-9pm.
